can we slow down for a minute?
Last weekend I went to HomeSense (similar to Home Goods for my U.S. readers) and as soon as I walked into the store, I could see all the fall decorations—both for Halloween and Thanksgiving (we Canadians celebrate it in early October). And I really don't know what the rush is all about. Summer has barely even finished when all the fall, and xmas decorations start being displayed.
When I was a kid, I remember August being the month when all the back to school stuff would come out. Clothes. Supplies. Backpacks. In late September, early October is when stores would start taking out the Halloween stuff. Xmas decorations would follow in mid to late November. Now everything comes out months before.
My question is, why can't we just enjoy the season and time we're in? Why are we rushing all the time? Rushing summer. Rushing back to school. Rushing the fall season, which by the way hasn't even begun. Nature hasn't even begun changing yet (tree leaves are still visibly green), so why are these department stores in such a rush? Can we just take our time enjoying and savoring the present moment?
It is still summer. The weather is still warm enough to sit outside with a glass of lemonade.
As much as I love fall and look forward to decorating my apartment for the season, I'm in no rush to get it done. I'm still enjoying the summer months, thank you very much!
